This is an awesome piece of surf culture history. This vintage medal is The Surfer's Cross. The Surfer's Cross origins are from the 1960's surf culture and is based on a German Iron Cross. It features a surfer on a board on the front side of the pendant. The German military medal design was chosen because young surfers would wear their fathers' war trophies as an anti-establishment statement. This medal is a replica of a German Iron Cross with the addition of surfer, on a longboard on the frontside. Pendant is an antiqued silver-tone metal, pewter That measures 1 3/4 in. height and 1 1/2 in. width.
